HERE'S THE GALLERY FEATURING THE EVOLUTION OF THE HAIR OF
THE CZAR OF "JEOPARDY!":
ALEX TREBEK!!!

(1974) - The Wizard of Odds
Alex backstage getting prepped for his first U.S. game show: "The Wizard
of Odds." The hair's not too frizzy here yet, but you can see the beginnings of his
trademark 70s-era Afro. As to the show, I have not yet been fortunate (or is it
unfortunate?) enough to see it. However, seeing a show featuring Alex wearing
tacky checkered suits is a bit intriguing...

(1974-76) High Rollers
Here are some shots from Alex's first big show: "High Rollers." This is
where the hair got really bushy! Hell, you could probably hold bird nests in that
hair. And look at the leftmost picture...Yes, Alex is trying his utmost best to
look studly in that polyester suit. For those of you who are wonderin', that leggy
lady in the pics with him is none other than Ruta Lee, "High Rollers'" original
dice lady.

1987 NATPE Convention
This is Misseur Trebek with Merv Griffin and Vanna White doing the
rounds to sell "Jeopardy!" to local stations. The hair has started to gray
and it's less poofy than his 70s do, but you can see a hint of that bushiness
still there.

(1987) Classic Concentration
Trebek and hostess Diana Taylor taken during the first season of the
NBC hit: "Classic Concentration." There is still some height in that hair
and the grayness is beginning to spread. By the way, he's saying in this pic,
"See that contestant over there? That's the next guy whose hopes I'll gleefully
dash!"

(1987) Jeopardy!
A threatening-looking Alex is pictured here. The bushiness is beginning
to fade away along with more of his dark hair. In this pic, he's crossing out all
the questions which don't have foreign phrases or Canadian content. It looks as
if he's saying to the cameraman: "So you think you don't have to phrase it in
the form of a question?!? You better watch it or I'll put your swarthy contestant
heinie in double jeopardy! Yeah, think you can taunt me?!? Don't make me start
talking about my safaris in Kenya with my beautiful wife and son!!!"

(Late '80s) Jeopardy!
Here's a happy-looking Alex with virtually non-bushy hair. By some
miracle, you can't see the grayness of hair here. His evil grin can be
attributed to the fact that he just caused a contestant to lose all his money
because he wasn't "specific" enough with his response!
