One down, 30 to go!
So, last month, I put together a list of 31 things that I'd like to do before my 32nd birthday in 2009. Well, I hereby declare one of them done! It is...
25. Go line dancing.
That's right, I went line dancing. Last night, I went to Oil Can Harry's with Christopher and gave line dancing a shot. It was fun and terrifying at the same time. I went into this thinking, "oh, line dancing is just a bunch of people doing the same three or four steps in unison while some country music plays." Oh, I was wrong...
No level of "Dance Dance Revolution" (which itself is boggling to me) could have prepared me for this! Two steps forward...shuffle...turn around...heel up...rotate...walk around...AHHH! The gears were turning on overdrive and it's even harder where there aren't arrows to step on and follow on a hyperkinetic video screen!
I swear, I was ready for Bruno, Carrie Ane, Nigel Lythgoe, and Mary Murphy to jump onto the floor and drag me off saying, "please, please stop!"
All that said, it was a LOT of fun and I'd do it again. And to top it off, discovered a fun cover of "Downtown" by Dolly Parton (we think) in the process!
I will say...I have a MUCH MUCH greater respect for anybody that does choreographed dancing. I'd even tip my cowboy hat to you...if I was wearing one!
