What's Mandel Watching?

(Not to be confused with "What's Alan Watching?," the Eddie Murphy-produced show for CBS...Free James Brown!)

Well, we a little over a month into the new fall season, and I think I've settled into a regular diet for this season...Here's what I've got season passed on the DVR...

SUNDAY
America's Most Smartest Model
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Family Guy
Desperate Hosuewives

MONDAY
Chuck
The Big Bang Theory
I Love New York

TUESDAY
Reaper

WEDNESDAY (aka..."I better clear out my DVR to make some room" day)
Pushing Daisies
Kid Nation
America's Next Top Model
Kitchen Nightmares

THURSDAY
Survivor
30 Rock
The Office

FRIDAY
The Next Great American Band

SATURDAY
Saturday Night Live

WEEKDAYS
The Price is Right

Without a doubt..."Pushing Daisies" is my favorite new show of the season. No other show this fall has put a smile on my face as consistently as "Daisies" has. I just wanna curl up and cuddle with it each week. Such an adorable cast and I love the look and writing...you MUST watch the show if you haven't yet. It's a little on the quirky side, but it's so endearing...

People have been asking me...what do you think about the new "Price is Right" with Drew Carey? Well, I likey! Here's the thing...he's not Bob Barker and honestly nobody will ever be Barker, but if you watch the show with fresh eyes, you can see that Drew's doing a good job. What I've enjoyed the most is seeing his unbridled giddiness. It's infectious and when you get down to it, "Price" is still the fun game show we all know and love that gets us away from our daily troubles an hour day...or 39 minutes when you're using your DVR! The show still keeps its season pass spot on my DVR. Kudos to all over there for keeping the legacy going!

And as to the change to my game, 1/2 Off? The change is that a contestant now gets a guaranteed $500 for every 1/2-off item s/he picks. I'm all for it. As I had mentioned in my blog before, in the original pitch for the game, there was a rule where you could walk away with $1,000 for every 1/2-off item you picked instead of looking in the box. It's nice to see contestants have a chance to walk away with some cash even if they pick a box with nothing in it.

A sneak "eek...."

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've had two big projects that have taken up a lot of my time the past couple months at work. One is the "2007 Fox Reality Channel Really Awards" which has gotten a lot of press lately as a result of the Danny Bonaduce/Jonny Fairplay incident.

But the other big show is a new series...

It's "The Search for the Next Elvira!" This show is one of most fun projects I've worked on. It's also a reality show unlike any you've seen before. What I love about this show is the tone...it's got that right amount of camp that you won't find in any other unscripted show out there right now. All you "Elvira" fans out there will NOT be disappointed and even if you're not an "Elvira" fan, you'll get a kick out of the show.

We kick things off with one of the most unusual auditions you'll ever see. There were a few auditions where I was in tears because I couldn't stop laughing.

It begins on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13th at midnight ET/9:00 PM PT right after the "Fox Reality Channel Really Awards" on...where else? FOX REALITY CHANNEL!.

And, if you don't get Fox Reality Channel...well, you really should! But if you can't, there's a free preview of the premiere episode now until the end of the week on iTunes. So, the old excuse of..."I don't get Fox Reality Channel" is no longer a valid excuse for not watching the show...right? :-)

Episodes 2 and 3 air back-to-back on October 20th and feature the challenges that will narrow the field of Elvira wannabes down. And at the end of episode 3, we'll open up our phone lines and let you, the public, vote for the next Elvira! Finally, on Halloween, we have our big finale where we'll announce who the next Elvira will be!

So, c'mon...do you really need to go out on Saturday night when you've got 3 hours chock full of great entertainment to watch!

Just wanna say...

I don't care...I still love "Desperate Housewives." :-)

And...on a totally different note, passed by the McDonald's on Riverside and Lankershim in North Hollywood the other day. I go there a lot and lately they're been screwy giving me a double cheeseburger when I wanted a double hamburger and giving me a Diet coke when I wanted a Coke. And now...they've got a "B." No more business for you, McDonald's in NoHo. BYE!

Buzzed...

Wow...I have to say, I don't think I've ever been involved with a production that got as much buzz as the Fox Reality Channel Really Awards has gotten in the past 24 hours or so...The Danny Bonaduce vs. Jonny Fairplay incident has been all over the gossip and entertainment blogs and news shows...

Survivor

Well...I survived another Fox Reality Channel Really Awards...It was QUITE a night...there was cross-dressing, crying, power outages, and blood shed...no, really...blood was shed. It was madness...Took a few pics of the mayhem that I'll post once the show airs, but in the meantime...here's a pic of me with Ron Jeremy.

Be sure to watch the 2007 "Fox Reality Channel Really Awards" SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13th at 10 PM Eastern / 7 PM Pacific on Fox Reality Channel followed by the premiere of "The Search for the Next Elvira" at 12 Midnight Eastern / 9 PM Pacific.

The 21st century began...

...25 years ago today. Happy birthday, EPCOT Center!

In the next week or two, I'll be sharing some pics and memories from my very first visit to EPCOT Center back in the winter of 1982. Ahh, sweet memories, when one could sing about the wonders of energy and fossil fuels and have no shame. In the mean time, here are some pics from that inaugural trip to the new century!

For the future world..was born today...ahhh...
