More airport musings...

Done with the first location of this weeklong two-location trip...

The thing I love looking for while on these business trips are restaurant chains I don't see in L.A.

Case in point...last night, while driving back to the hotel, I had to grab some dinner. On one side of the street...Steak 'n Shake and right in front of it...Krystal Burger!

What do I do? Do I go for the White Castle-ness of Krystal or the steakburgers of the Shake? Right at that moment I get a call from Drew who's in Italy right now for work.

I explain my dilemma and as a good reverse phone-a-friend should do gave me a definitive answer in seconds...Steak 'n Shake - get a steak burger and a shake.

So, alas I did - I got the combo and a chocolate/banana side-by-side shake. It was my first Steak 'n Shake experience and I didn't regret it.

Flash forward to the Atlanta airport where I'm typing this right now. I knew right off the bat that I need to go to Chik-Fil-A...and sure enough, there it was beckoning me with its white and red as I stepped into the terminal from gate. Mmmm...sweet, tangy BBQ sauce goodness. And waffle fries...drooool...

And guess what's right in front of me as I finish this blog...a Krystal burger. Taking a closer look at the pictures, I think I can wait before I give them a shot...

Off to hop on a plane for the next location!

I see...

...celebrities at LAX...

Behind me last night in the security line...Haley Joel Osment...with very shaggy hair. Didn't realize he was about my height. I expected him to be a little taller...

Hi, Gary Green! See, I DID put your name in my blog...now make sure you've got my correct birth year on your site. ;-)

New music on my iPod...Under the Influence of Giants...a great collection of dance rock. They fall somewhere between Maroon 5 and Scissor Sisters.

Now just waiting in an airport in Atlanta on a 3-hour layover...Would grab some Chik-Fil-A for breakfast, but oh wait...they're closed on Sundays. :-P

Maybe I should do some sort of version of "The Bachelor" on the web to find dates...maybe I shouldn't...it could result on some poop on the floor...

It's cold in the airport...I should have brought a little jacket...but I don't think I need one where I'm going to this week...

Took my friend Jake from DC out The Abbey and Motherlode Friday night and met up with some other friends in the process. So crowded...so, so crowded...now I know why I rarely go to Weho on the weekends...

Growing addicted to karaoke at Fubar on Monday nights...alas, won't go this week because I'm out of town, but I shall return...but what song will I do????

Just realizing the guy with the blonde ponytail at the Palm store across where I'm sitting is a guy...he'd make an attractive blond female tennis player circa 1987...

I can't down a can of Mountain Dew as quickly as did in my college days...

Thankfully, I have no liquids that I need to consume before I board the aircraft...then I'd have to pee...and I just wanna nap on my hour-long final leg of my flight...these redeye flights are killers...

Rehearsal with the Ceramic Dalmatians went well yesterday...was a little worried about having to do double duty and take over the 2nd keyboard parts, but I Rick Wakeman-ed it...take that, Emerson Lake and Palmer!! Next Saturday's performance should be fine...

YouTube-ilagation

As mentioned on this site before, YouTube has been a frequent source of timekilling. It's been a treasure trove for old music videos...many of which I haven't seen in years.

One of which is this one...

I remember liking this one a lot growing up...and looking back on things...it sure explains a whole lot. :-)

We need a Jim Steinman video collection on DVD!!! C'mon the world needs to be reintroduced to the wonder that is...

August Everywhere

After taking a little rest from blogging to focus on my move and the relaunch of "Reality Remix," I'm back!

Some random musing on things that have happened over the past few weeks...

- Checked out the a taping of the new "Family Feud" hosted by John O'Hurley on Saturday. I'm not going to spoil things, BUT I have a really good feeling about this season. The set is a mix of classic and new. There's one thing that returns that I'm sure many fans of the original won't be op-POSE-d to. As I was telling people there, it's feels familiar, but fresh at the same time. And John O'Hurley...he does a really, really good job. It's great to see somebody who can "host" on the show again. He gives the show a touch of class and has a command and authority over the show that's been missing the past several years. He's quite a nice guy too who seems geuninely enthusiastic and excited to be hosting the show. Definitely keep an eye on this one when it returns in September.

- "Flavor of Love 2" premiered last night and it didn't fail to deliver. That was 90 minutes of brilliance. Too many great moments to talk about...Punches thrown in the first TEN minutes of the show...Sapphire praying to god for forgiveness for "beating that bitch's ass" AND for thinking about "beating that bitch's ass" again...and of course, the poop...POOP on the stairs. And all in the first episodes!

- With multiple Apple computers in the house equipped with iSight cams and iChat, I can finally host a home game of "Tattletales!" Now, I just have to find some giant headphones...

- "I Don't Feel Like Dancing," the new video by the Scissor Sisters has been released and is up on this blog. The song is Leo Sayer-tastic...and I mean that in a good way. The new album's not here soon enough! The video's a little freaky...disembodied Jake Shears face...AHHH!

- Recently we had "So You Think You Can Dance's" Ivan and Natalie in the "Remix" studio and they were so sweet...Pic to come later today...Loving this season of the show. The top six and especially the top four are so good.

- I picked up a board game recently (per the suggestion of my friend Mike) that I highly recommend. Wits and Wagers - think the educated guess questions from "Card Sharks" or the qualifying questions from "Greed" (hee!) mixed in with a dash of "The Price is Right" and touched up with a bit of good ol' betting. The game moves at a clip and is easy for anybody to pick up. Here's hoping that a 2nd edition comes out to help replenish the questions supply!

- Tried the new McDonald's Snack Wrap...not so good...the cheese don't mesh too well with the bland Chicken Selects strips...stick to the Twister from KFC if you're gonna go that route.
