From FLA to LA...

Back in L.A. after a fun Thanksgiving weekend in Florida. Much to report, but that will have to wait until later...To sum things up, the reunion was wonderful. It was great to catch up with some friends and teachers I haven't seen in a decade!

Oh and a big BOOOO to Bai Ling getting the boot on "But Can They Sing?"...The voting public has disappointed me yet again. When will you learn?!?

I'm quite psyched though about the finale. "Bohemian Rhapsody!?!" God help us all...

More in the next few days about the reunion trip...For now, I go to bed...

How's 'dem apples?

Recently Ted, Larry, Tim, and I introduced a few people to the wonders of "The Apple." And the age-old discussion of who should do a tribute album for the beloved movie came up. So, here's an oldie but a goodie of a post...

Originally posted here on September 1, 2004...here is...

Rotten to the Core: A Tribute to the Music of "The Apple"

So a round of E-mails was circulated between my friends and me yesterday and it resulted in what we feel is the best lineup for "Rotten to the Core," an all-star tribute to Menahem Golan's schlocky 1980 movie musical "The Apple."

BEHOLD our dream team of BIM-ers...

BIM - Justin Hawkins from the Darkness and Taylor Dayne

The Universal Melody - Nick and Jessica

Made for Me - Elton John w/Olivia Newton-John

Show Business - Scissor Sisters w/ Bea Arthur and the cast of Broadway’s Avenue Q

The Apple - Tina Turner

To Be a Master - William Shatner

Speed - Pink

Where Has Love Gone - David Hasselhoff

Cry For Me - Mandy Moore and Meat Loaf

Coming - Donna Summer

Child of Love - James Earl Jones w/ The Polyphonic Spree

Creation - David Bowie

There you have it...Don't quite see what I'm saying?...Go rent or buy the DVD of "The Apple" and it'll all make sense...kinda...

They're having DUETS tonight!!!!!!!

Videos for Justin Hawkins' cover of "This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us

It's the new song I'm obsessed with. YAY for falsettos and opera rock!

OK...just a few days ago...it hit me that Thanksgiving is less than a couple of weeks away. That means Christmas is just around the corner. That means I need to get my ass moving on buying presents. ARG!

Been bouncing E-mails back and forth with people from my high school in anticipation of the big 10-year anniversary over Thanksgiving weekend. Getting quite excited to see how every is. And in one of those "it's a smaller world than you think" moments, I found out that one person I work with and another person I've worked with on on my project are graduates from my high school!

Remeber to vote BAI LING tonight "But Can They Sing?" She has to stay on the show...SHE HAS TO!!!!

Secret, secret...

Just got back from seeing a taping of the "I've Got a Secret" pilot at GSN. Was a little skeptical about this when I first heard about it, but it wasn't bad at all. The format is the same, the panel has a bit of chemistry between them, the set is reminscent of many other panel shows (down to a curtain in the center that opened up for the host)...it's pretty much "I've Got a Secret" with a panel that just happens to be gay. The host was Bil Dwyer, whom I've always been a fan of, and he did a nice job of moving things along.

It was surprisingly traditional...more than I'd expect to see nowadays. If this get picked up, more power to the producers and GSN...it would be great to see a new traditional panel show on the air.

Locke and load...

My friend Robb sent me this pic...I had almost forgotten this was taken...

It's Kimberly Locke with my friend Jon and Robb. This was from the night at Popstarz when we saw her perform. EEE!

Oh, be sure to catch Reality Remix tonight and Monday. We have in-studio interviews with Christopher Knight and Adrienne Curry. They're very, very fun! And I'll just leave it at that... :-)

Mind trap

OK...so I just finished watching VH1's special for R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet: Chapter 6 - 8." My head is literally going to explode. Money was actually put into this?!?

I totally lost it when Rosie the nosy neighbor came banging down the door with her spatula. I mean, really people...

And is it just me or does it seem like R. Kelly hit the record button and just started throwing a bunch of words together with a minor wavering in melody here and there?

I honestly have never seen anything like this before. And then on the VH1 special, there are interviews with the characters. INTERVIEWS with the CHARACTERS...not the actors playing the characters...the CHARACTERS...as if they were real and they're talking about what just happened in the songs...

Then there's the awful green screen!

Oh, and did I mention a spatula?! Ah, I did...just wanted to make sure...

I'd take a marathon of "But Can They Sing?" over this any day...ok, maybe not, and maybe I'll get the DVD of "Trapped in the Closet" to make sure that this did happen and to torture my friends by making them view it...but still...geez! I don't understand...I really, really don't...

And mom, if you're reading this...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

News and new pics!

Stumbled upon this article today...

"Howie Mandel to host NBC's 'Deal or No Deal'"

Oh well...so much for me being the first "Mandel" to host a nationally televised game show. :-)

Heh...Should be interesting to see how he does and how the show does. I've seen the Australian version and while it's basically a prolonged version of "Treasure Hunt" minus the wacky sketches, there was something oddly intriguing about the couple of episodes I saw.

Got some new pics up on the webpage. Just head over to the "Photo Album" section and check them out!

Here's a little sample...

Oops...no pun intended! I swear!
