Two for the price of one... (part 2)

It's double the blogs...double the fun...

Here's the second blog...or as I like to call it...the random catch-up quick-list blog...

- The latest band I'm keeping my eyes and ears out for...The Click Five. Read about them in "Entertainment Weekly" and promptly looked them up online. Cute guys singing nice, peppy, Fountains of Wayne-ish power pop. Me likey. :-)

- "Being Bobby Brown"...Is there really more to be said than "Hell to the no" and "Dootie bubble?" I know it's a bit of a trainwreck, but geez, I'm hooked...so, so, hooked. It made me laugh and cringe and go "oh my god" all at once.

- Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper...very intriguing, but it all blended together where I really couldn't pick out the vanilla or the cherry. It's not some unholy amalgam of tastes like OK Soda from the 90s, but I dunno, it's only just a little bit more to the left of Dr. Pepper to be of any flavorful significance.

- Watched a little bit of "Live 8" and found myself hitting the forward button on the TiVO quite often. It looked like London had the best group of artists. Surprised nobody pulled off a Phil Collins-esque, "I'm going to perform in two cities in the same day" routine. And I wonder...if something like that was tried, who should have done it? Who is the Phil Collins of the 21st century? Hmmm...I'm thinking Rob Thomas. Also, it would have been cool to have seen a big international singalong by all eight venues. But alas, no...It all just seemed to peter out...

- Quite excited by this upcoming DVD release: Buffalo Bill! Vaguely remember this show from my childhood, and I'll probably appreciate this more now than I did back then. Now, c'mon...Paramount, let's get cracking on putting "Police Squad!" on DVD!

- Sunday, Ted, Larry, new Jim, and I went to Disneyland. I had a blast. It's the first time I had been there since the park was redone for the 50th anniversary. We saw the awesome new fireworks show and the new Buzz Lightyear attraction. And I sucked at shooting the targets in Anaheim as much as I did at Disney World's version in Florida. Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion had some new little twists too for the 50th. But, the biggest kick was trying out the new Space Mountain!!! After being closed for at least a year, it's finally open again. Well, not officially...it's in a sneak preview phase. That being said...here are some pics...

... The touchups to the queue area are quite spiffy. The new special effects and soundtrack are FANTASTIC. They are so disorienting (in a good way) that you have NO clue where the track is leading. I guess it also helps that there's a new track layout. But boy, were we impressed! Can't wait to see what other changes are up ahead when the "Rockit Mountain" phase of the attraction opens next year!
