Birthday craziness...

Such a crazy weekend so far...thank goodness it's a 3-day weekend. Two birthday parties...First, there was my friend Jeff's party at the Fiesta Cantina on Saturday evening. Lots of fun and 2-for-1 margaritas! YAY! And then, this morning, my friend David had a big birthday brunch at the Grand Lux Cafe. Nothing like getting my fix of buffalo chicken sammich topped off with the creme brulee duo. Double YAY!

I plugged in the Atari Flashback yesterday and I have to say it's a bit disappointing compared to the other plug-and-play retrogame packages out there. While it's a replica of the Atari 7800, it's a TINY replica. The controllers feel like they could snap at any moment in my hand. Also, they don't have the best control. They're especially awkward when using them with Atari 2600 games. Speaking of which, I rediscovered Haunted House while playing the Flashback. You mean the game was all about finding pieces of the urn and that's it?!? I can't believe this game boggled me when I was a little kid...

Fired up the Nintendo DS as well this weekend and I've been enjoying it so far. I'm still not used to using the touch pad as a control device. That being said, it's still a cool system. The graphics are really good...amazing what can be done now with handhelds for a low price. This one is definitely no Virtual Boy. Eee...my eyes still ache just thinking about that old system...

Here's a pic taken Jeff's party last night. I think it pretty much sums up my frame of mind this weekend. :-)

Ooooh, the DS. I'm waiting for the PSP, but how much better than Game Boy Advance are the graphics on the DS?
