YAY!
A bevy of things to be happy about...
* Pudding Pops...They're back! Must go find them and break through that flavorless seal of ice to reach the puddin'-center goodness.
* Scissor Sisters...Saw their free show at Spaceland in Silverlake a couple of weeks ago. I've been hooked on this band since I first heard them on my alarm radio last month. Picked up their album on iTunes after "Take Your Mama" woke me up that morning on KROQ. After checking out the free show (where I got to catch up with Keithers, whom I hadn't seen in at least a year), I became convinced that this is the band to watch. I'll echo what Keith said on his blog...YOU MUST CHECK THIS BAND OUT. It's a mix of disco, 80s electro-pop, 70s glam pop/rock. I think that the free show I saw last week is the last time I'll ever see them in a venue as small as the Spaceland for free.
* Went to Dallas with Doug recently to visit my friend Albie and his friend Nita. Much, much fun and reminiscing and much, much jealousy about Albie's kick-ass apartment. Did some sightseeing...checked out the Kennedy museum, the aquarium (OTTERS!), and the arboretum. The down side...It's hot as hell though over there...Fortunately, the gelato shop nearby provided much cooling comfort.
And finally...the thing I'm most happy about...I've hit the six-month mark with Doug! It's been the best. This has been the longest-lasting relationship I've been in since I've moved out here. I'm definitely a lucky guy to have met him and have him as part of my life. He is a key part to why things have been so great in the world of Mandel lately. :-)
