Priceless Moments

Well, the most recent project I've been helping out with is official...We're doing a live stage version of "The Price is Right" in at the Harrah's in Reno. This has been in the works for the past several months. I've been helping out and giving my input along the way in between the other projects I've been working on at the company. I'll most likely be helping to launch the show for the first week's worth of shows. From what I've seen so far, this should be a fun show that stays true to the spirit of the real show much like the "Millionaire" attraction at California Adventure and Disney-MGM. Also, like "Millionaire," there is an added play-along element that will give everybody in the audience to win prizes throughout the course of the evening. If you happen to be in Reno this fall, you should check out the show.

Interestingly enough, that's not the only "Price"-related thing I've been involved with. As you may recall from a previous blog, I pitched a pricing game to one of the producers of "The Price is Right." Well, I got word today that my game has pretty much been given the green light! Not only that, but it's also on the fast track, so it could very well debut in the upcoming season making it the third new pricing game of the 32nd season. Woo-hoo! Needless to say, I'm psyched. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I'd have a game I created as part of the longest-running network TV game show! I mean, just four years ago, I was writing people's names on their name tags for "Price!" I really can't say too much about the game especially since it might go through some changes between now and when it's actually played for real. I will say, however, that this game deals with an area of pricing all of us have encountered in shopping that has never really been explored in any other pricing game as far as I know.

Had a bit of a delayed "gay TV" night this week. We ended up watching "Queer Eye" and "Boy Meets Boy" tonight since TB, LL, and I had various previous plans that kept us away from the house on Tuesday. Anyhoo...I don't care what anybody says. Mock me all you want. Call me a wishful think all you want. But I still think Franklin is gay. I think Brian is the straight one. OK, OK...so Franklin was paired with another straight guy when they split the six into groups of two for the most recent elimination and so it would make sense that they'd keep both straight guys together to guarantee a straight guy going through to the final three...And maybe that wavy hair and those blue eyes are distracting me. But then again, it would be nice if Brian was gay too. But Wes can't be straight. ARRRGH...I'm done with it. I don't care. I'm sticking with my original guess that Franklin is gay. But I originally had Brian and Wes as gay too. My gaydar sucks...plain and simple...Tuesday isn't here soon enough to put my faulty 'dar out of its misery.

Oh, and the only thing that's worse than my gaydar is me playing laser tag...big time...to the point were legions of children smaller than me kick my ass in it and secretly point and laught at me as they fire at my pack. Yeah, rack up the points, ya pip-squeaks. I was 25th out of 33 when I went with a bunch of friends on Sunday afternoon!!! Where's the mini-golf range...oh wait, that's just worse...Didn't I say I was going to start tennis soon? Be afraid...be VERY afraid...

The weekend so far...

Busy weekend...Friday night, I went to a birthday party at the Fat Fish in West Hollywood. Fun, fun times. There were lots of people. I met a couple of new people and reunited with some whom I hadn't seen in months. The fact that I knew some people at the party was mere coincidence. In fact, going into the party, I had thought that the only person I knew there was going to be the birthday boy. It proves yet again that the gay internet world in LA is a small one. Friendster is seeming to help though in showing where the connections lie. :-)

DF, NR, and I caught the first taping of the new season of "Family Feud." Good stuff. We hung around for the first two shows of taped that day and they were solid shows. It was great to see a lot of the returning staffers and crew there. There have been a number of changes, one of which I know will please a lot of the game show fans out there. The show now tapes at Tribune Studios (aka the KTLA studios and aka the studios where Whammy!, Russian Roulette, Let's Make Deal 2003, and Greed taped). It seemed like the new theme and cues were back (the non-classic one)...not sure why though. But the most major change...the game is now played to 300 points: single, single, double, triple. Three strikes every round. SUCH a big improvement. I really felt more invested in watching the game and following each question with this. The games play so much better. And it's hardcore classic rules in regards to scores on steals. That is, a family that steals a question doesn't get the points for the answer the "stole" with. Richard seems to be loosening up a bit. In fact, I was having a major Richard Dawson flashback with one particular family interview. I believe though that what I saw were the first two shows of the "B" episodes in double-run markets.

After the taping, DF, JA, TB, LL, and I went over to KL's for his moving-away party. It's not that far of a moving away, but it was one last excuse to have a pool party at his place before the summer comes to an end. Later that evening, I hung out with JB and watched "Igby Goes Down."

Oh and my latest project...I've realized that I don't have a regular "physical" routine in my life. I think that I'm going to try to get into the habit of playing some tennis. This was inspired by a conversation I had with AJ before "Sneaux" the other night. The trick is finding a place to play and getting a racquet...Start placing bets on whether this latest idea comes to fruitition and if it does, how long it will last. PLACE BETS NOW!

Finally...Lionel Richie rocks... :-)

YAY!

The theme for my latest blog entry is...YAY!

YAY! for the season finale of "The Amazing Race" and Chip and Reichen's victory. It's still hands down my favorite "reality" show. I had to keep myself from screaming at the TV so as to not wake the roomies up since I didn't get to watch it until I had gotten home late... :-)

YAY! for this really cool new musical that TB, LL, AJ, and I saw this evening. It's called "Sneaux!." This musical is described as a "gothic figure skating musical." Don't let that throw you off. Yes, it is probably one of the most ridiculous shows I've ever seen, but it's a lot of fun. Never has a musical blended inbred families from the bayou, Nipsey Russell references, and dancing men in animals suits to skillfully. If you're in the LA area, you should check it out. It's playing at the Matrix theater on Melrose....It's funny, seeing this was a byproduct of the Olivia Newton John that TB and I were supposed to see being cancelled. But then again, isn't gothic figure skating just the next logical step after "Xanadu?"

YAY! for my friend AC's birthday. It's tomorr...Looking at the clock, it's today. And...

A late YAY! for my roomie LL's birthday...which was a couple of weeks ago.

YAY! for finally paying off my car. Yep, as of this month, I made my final payment on my little green Honda. I've had the car for four years now. And it still runs quite well. I really don't see myself getting a new car any time soon. Unless...somebody wants to get me a mini-Cooper or a VW Beetle for Christmas...or my birthday...or Arbor Day....

YAY! for McGriddles...They're not as bad as they sound...

YAY! for the third season of "Mr. Show" on DVD. Now, it's time to start putting some "Kids in the Hall" and "SCTV" episodes on DVD. Maybe even some "Fridays" episodes as well...

YAY! for some new cool friends I've met recently through Friendster, gay.com, and Planetout. It proves that the Internet ain't such a bad way to meet people.

But conversely, YAY! to those friends who in the past couple of months have gotten me off my ass and out of my house and go check out West Hollywood. I know I've been a bit critical on here about the whole "going out to clubs and bars" thing. While it's not on the top of my list of things to do, I have had a lot of fun the past couple of times. I even met a new friend one of the recent times I went. * GASP * Safety in numbers, safety in numbers. It really is about whom you go with and also having somebody else be the designated driver. * GASP * YAY!

And finally...YAY! for me finally putting a new blog entry on here for the first time in 16 days.

YAY!

What the hell is going on here?

Random thoughts as weirdness reigns...

I think the government should just put a phone book in every voting booth for this upcoming recall election in California. I mean, who is NOT running for governor? Geez...The prospect of a debate between Larry Flynt, Angeline, Gary Coleman, Arnold Schwarzengger, and Arianna Huffington is intriguing though. No, no, no...on second thought, it isn't! C'mon people...Has all reason been thrown out the window here?!? Before we know it, Kobe Bryant is going to throw his hat in, in a last-minute effort to save face. Oy...

My computer at work went all ka-ka on me today...proving how necessary my computer is to do what I need to do at work. Damn you, technology!!!

I went to the Ben Folds/Tori Amos concert at the Greek Theater last Friday, and I realized that two hours of Tori Amos is too much Tori. Fortunately, there was the wonderful hour of music with Ben beforehand. Don't get me wrong, I like Tori Amos. I have a few of her CDs, but I can only deal with her in small doses.

My gaydar sucks...and not in the good way...After two episodes of "Boy Meets Boy," I am ONE for six on guessing who's gay and who's straight. Chalk up another reason why I haven't been doing that hot in the dating arena. Can't say "Boy" is my favorite show, but there is something compelling about the "play along" factor of "is he or isn't he?" And apparently, a bunch of the guys are San Diegoans according to a friend I visited there last weekend. In fact, whilst going to a bar there on Saturday night, I spotted Chris, one of the first people eliminated from the show.

Was watching Regis and Kelly one morning and Regis used the term "bling blang"...Oh, how he tries so hard...

Saw "Poltergeist" all the way through for the first time Monday night with a bunch of friends at our house. That's one messed up movie. I've just realized that Carol-Ann kinda looks like that freaky little girl that used to hawk Welch's grape juice. And midget-sized spirit mediums ROCK.

And does it say something that the most "normal" news story was the breakup of Liza Minnelli and David Gest??

So I've started to wear my hair a bit down in the front. Does that make sense? DF calls it a "Bohemian look" while somebody else said I have a Filipino Beatles thing going. It's funny because this is similar to a hairstyle I had when I started college. In fact, it was something I stumbled upon by accident while trying the "gel from the back" method Kyan taught all of us on "Queer Eye." I think what happened was that I forgot to gel all the way from the back causing a more bangs-y look in the front. I didn't realize it until people that day started commenting on how nice my hair looked not thinking that I did anything different until I looked in the mirror. And ladies and gentlemen, this paragraph is the most self-centered, narcissitic things I've ever written! This heat is getting to my head....I'm heading to bed...Hey, that rhymed! Take THAT, Nipsey Russell!
