"Idol"-atry
So as promised...more scoop on my night at "Idol" last night. Started out the day at "Idol" by heading to the Universal Ampitheater around 3-ish. The blazing heat of the San Fernando Valley was more apparent as we all had to stand outside for a half-hour or so, before they let people into the theater. As soon as we got in, I rushed over to the food stand where free Coke was being served. Mmmm...Refreshingly good.
I hung out in the lobby with a few of my co-workers. While waiting outside, I saw Todd Newton and his wife Silver and as well as Bob Boden and Tim Duffy from Game Show Network. We all chatted and caught up on things before we headed into the theater. Spotted some former reality people in the audience as I sat down. I saw Robb from "Survivor: Thailand" complete with a faux-hawk and I saw Blair from on of the recent "Road Rules."
After the show, I was able to get a ticket to the after-party. The party was held on Baker St. at the Universal Studios theme park. Food and drink galore. And FOX celebrities as well...I met a couple of the actors from "Keen Eddie" and also saw Michael Chiklis from FX's "The Shield" there. The party was quite spread out. There was a dance floor, a couple of bars, some huge projection screens showing the west coast broadcast of the finale, and Bobby Trendy. Yes, Bobby Trendy from the "Anna Nicole Show" with this cute twinky boy with him. Bobby was donning a pair of leather pants with rhinestones spelling the words "Bobby" on one leg and "Trendy" on the other.
And what "Idol" party wouldn't be complete with former contestants? From this season, I saw Trenyce, Kimberly Caldwell, and Vanessa Olivarez. And from the first season, I saw R.J., E.J., and A.J. I even got a chance to talk a little bit with A.J. and his manager. We talked a little bit about his new single that's coming out in the summer. Fun, fun, stuff...Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, I didn't really get a chance to see Ruben or Clay. They did arrive at the party but were surrounded by a swarm of people and press. And within a half-hour, they were whisked out of Universal and off to another big "Idol" party happening in Hollywood.
All in all, it was a great night, another one I surely will not forget..
