And then there were two...

Just got home from a fun night at "Idol." Went to see the next to last result's show at CBS Television City. Lots of energy in the audience. When Nigel Lythgoe did a straw poll of the audience to see whom they voted for the night before, it was clear that Ruben and Clay had the strongest followings. The row behind us had its fair share of squealers. I myself was a "woo"-er. All in all, it was a fun show. It's always cool seeing the show in person, especially since it's a live broadcast, a rarity around these parts. After the show, I got to hang out backstage. Unfortunately, there weren't too many of the talent, since they were taping Monday's show immediately after tonight's show had wrapped. Nevertheless, I did see Randy Jackson and Tamyra Gray, who looked quite good. But alas no Clay, KLo, or Ruben. Instead, I saw Will and Chris from "Mr. Personality"...minus the masks of course. And I have to say they do look better in person. But then again, I was really hungry so the blood flow to my brain may have been slowing down.

After the show I went out to dinner with Drew and two coworkers of mine who went to the show as well, Sandy and Chris. We went to Johnnie's on Santa Monica. It's this really great pizzeria. I had this ridiculously huge chicken parmigiana sandwich. It was HUGE. It really was the size of two sandwiches. It was a fun, fun night. There was lots of talk about British TV since Sandy is from the UK and Drew had spent some time in London as well.

One interesting thing about Wednesday's show and seeing it live versus on TV. A lot of my friends who saw it on TV said that they didn't care for Tamyra's performance and that it was flat. Live, though, it was amazing. She has a very powerful voice. that I guess didn't quite carry through in the TV broadcast. Oh well..
