Southern nights...

Big rehearsal day today. The stunts look great. There were the usual instances of birthing pains involved, but I think we'll be up and ready for Friday's inaugural taping of "Beat the Clock."

Tonight, I met up with Davy, a friend of Ted's who lives here in town. He picked me up from the hotel along with his friends Johnny, Thomas, and Jeremy. In the midst of the drive, we pass by "Bible World." There is actually a Baptist bible theme park in Orlando. To which we all pondered..."Do they have a gay day?" We drove to Johnny's place before we headed out for a little clubbing...yes that's right...CLUBBING...in the evening.

Johnny, Davy, and I headed over to a place called "Southern Nights," a gay club in the Orlando area and I think the only gay club I know that shares a name with a Glen Campbell song. Well..come to think of it I could be wrong...There could conceivably be a gay club called "The Rhinestone Cowboy"...hmmm...

Anyhoo, we get to the club and it's pretty crowded. For those of you familiar with WeHo, think of everything in WeHo concentrated in this one club in the middle of the Central Florida suburbs. The crowd was a bit...eclectic. There were young guys and old guys, twinks and bears, jocks and skanks, and lesbians, lesbians, lesbians! I swear it was practically "It's a Gay World After All." All that was missing was the boat and some cute guy in an Venetian gondola rower's uniform saying "how many?" I'm not really a club person, but it was nice to get out of the hotel room for the night and meet some new people. There were many rooms in this club. It reminded me of the different "lands" at the Magic Kingdom. There was the main bar, the dance floor, a blacklight room with a stage where a bunch of drag queens performed, and a Tiki patio bar outside. There was some eye candy to savor milling about and there were people at various stages of being clothed with a few going a bit too far into the unclothed realm. We hung out there for a couple of hours or so before Davy and Johnny took me back to my hotel room. It was really cool...Plus, they were just the sweetest to me. They've even invited me to a BBQ at Johnny's tomorrow afternoon which I probably will go to...
