So closes this chapter...
Wow...wow...wow....Yesterday marked the last tape day for the inaugural season of "Whammy! - The All-New Press Your Luck." We have 65 episodes all done now. And we ended the season with quite a bang. A lot of nail-biters! Our 65th episode was a theme episode which will air during a future GSN marathon. It had some great game play and it looks really good. We even re-dressed the set a bit to fit the theme.
I have had such a blast working on this show! Everybody has been a delight to work with on the show. While this has been one of the smallest production staffs I've worked with, it's also been one of the most fun and tight-knit staffs too. The birthing process was a bit rough, but once things settled into place, things were just great. I've never worked on a show which has given me such an adrenaline rush. There were many times during those tense final-round moments where I couldn't sit in my chair. This is a show where you can't help but get sucked into the excitement of the game! And it wasn't just me...EVERYBODY from the P.A.s to the prize staff to the producers to the crew to the execs got into the game. It was quite a sight to see.
We capped off the last day of taping with a wrap party. A nice spread of food and there was even a raffle drawing for gifts for the staff and crew. I managed to win a stereo in the midst of all of this!
I know some of the people who work on the show and GSN read this site...so again, to everybody involved with the show who's read this site, THANKS. Thanks for making the show the success it's been and for making one of this little game show geek's dreams come true!
So, what happened the day after....? I took a rare day off today. Drew invited me to join him and his friends from out of town to Magic Mountain. 'Twas a LOT of fun...and to use a word Drew coined that day...it was "Moosetastic." Got my Season Pass renewed and we pretty much saw everything in one day. Quite a rarity with Magic Mountain seeing how the load times for a lot of the rides are slow. I braved "Superman" for the first time. It was cool and wasn't the freak-out I had expected. However, my chicken gene kicked in for the two new coasters there..."X" and "Deja Vu." I was the D.N.R.P.M...Designated Non-Riding Party Member for those two rides. All in all, it was a great way to spend the day off and to spend a day without having Whammy on the mind.
Now, it's just a means of waiting...Waiting for the elusive pickup for another 65 episodes. There's really no word as to when we'll hear about a decision, but there is one way you can help. WATCH the show. Also, tell everybody you know with Game Show Network to watch the show. This is a show that deserves a really long run and there are too many people who've put in a lot of hard work into this to have this only last a season or two!
