HOORAY!

Yet again, another long drought period of blogging...It's been another busy week. We're almost done with the 65 episodes of "Whammy!" that Game Show Network ordered. We tape the final six episodes on Monday. After that, we just wait and hope we get another pickup for another 65.

Monday was quite a big day for us since it was the premiere of "Whammy!" on Game Show Network. Earlier in the day, we taped seven episodes, many of which were great. After the shows were done, we wheeled in some TVs to the stage floor and watched the debut of "Whammy!" 'Twas quite exciting. Later that evening, Drew and Gary came over to watch the premiere and to check out some of the new GSN stuff I TiVOed. We even dusted off some of the old game show tapes in my collection and watched a couple of those.

And it looks like people like the show. To those of you who have sent me E-mails of congratulations and those of you who have posted kind words about us on the message boards and newsgroups, THANK YOU. It means a lot that game show fans like "Whammy!" This is the one show I've have worked VERY closely with from its earliest development stages to production. I've tried to put in as much input in as many aspects of the show as possible from putting together the rules, host language, setting up what goes where on the big game board, writing questions, etc. etc. Without a doubt, this is the most FUN show I've worked with. It has helped that we have a great staff and a great network to work with. Everybody has put in an A+ effort in making the show the success it has been.

And upon seeing the overnights the following day, that effort paid off. Monday night's "Whammy!" was Game Show Network's biggest debut in its almost eight-year history! I just hope that the ratings hold up and better yet, that they build in the weeks to come. We have some great episodes coming down the line, a few of which were taped on Monday and Tuesday. In fact, one episode we taped on Tuesday is a historic episode...something that never happened in PYL history (including the 80s version) occurred on one of the seven shows we taped that day. I won't divulge any more than that, BUT...it will surely get the boards talking when it airs...

Speaking of the boards, there have been lots of comments about the show. A bunch of them were printed up and have been seen by a lot of the staff including Todd. The audio issue that many of you mentioned is being addressed. In regards to questions about $0 ties at the end of the game, the players tied for $0 who haven't Whammied out are eligible to come back on a future show.

So again, to those of you who've watched the show, thank you for your support. I hope this is the beginning of what will become a long run and triumphant return of one of the greatest game shows ever made. Hell, I even got my name in the credits (on my own card even!) in full screen tonight! Woo-hoo! For those of you who missed it, it will be on tomorrow afternoon's rerun at 12:30 PM (Pacific)/3:30 PM (Eastern).
