25

What a birthday weekend...Friday was pretty much work, work, work. "Project: Nipple" soldiers on with soooo much to do. Fiddled around with the new editing system we ordered. It's been set up in my office. Made a reel for our run-throughs and burnt it onto a DVD. Didn't come out perfectly, but for a first shot, it didn't turn out too badly...Got home around 8 PM from work. Fiddled around with the piano. Ahhh....it's so nice to have a real piano to play on again!

Saturday was quite a day. Spent most of the day getting stuff for the party. Went to Costco to get a deli platter and veggie platter and got some drinks at Ralph's. People started milling in around 6-ish. We had a LOT of fun. The theme for the birthday party this year..."Press Your Pot-Luck." It was a pot-luck party with a "Press Your Luck" theme. We watched a couple of "Press Your Luck" episodes and slipped a viewing of half a "Greed" episode in there as well. :-)

In addition to the bevy of free food and game show watching, we had a marathon of playing "Press Your Luck" using Curt King's excellent PYL program whilst I did my best Peter Tomarken impersonation. At the end of the night, we had the "top three" winners play a final game for a big prize. The top three were Tony H., Caleb, and Sara. With only two Whammys hit in the game, we had about $50K between the three players. Tony emerged victorious with a score of over $26,000. To use a Tomarken-ism, "What a game!"

But the wasn't the end of it...as the crowd dissipated. As midnight rolled around, we whipped out the Pyramid home game and played a few rounds of that. The party went on until about 2-ish...

This probably was one of the best birthday parties I've ever had. A nice mix of probably from different parts of my life...Think a real-life version of Hanna-Barbera's "Laffalympics." There was the game show bunch, the PNO/Gay.com bunch, the work bunch, and the Harvard bunch. And there were some Venn diagram-like intersections there somewhere...Yet another instance of reassurance and comfort in knowing that I've met so many good, nice people since moving out here 2 1/2 years ago. And the bevy of gifts didn't hurt either...

Brad E-mailed me some pics of the party. I'll have them up online some time this week. Sunday was pretty much my rest and recover day. Did a little window shopping at Toys R Us and Best Buy. That night, I discovered this cool new online gay talk show on fortheboys.tv. I dared my friend Mike to call in since the show is local. And by golly he did. He told the hosts Gary and Steve about how his friend (me) dared him to call in. So I'm watching and Gary and Steve start coaxing me to call in. After a bit of hemming and hawing, I did. And ya know what? It was a lot of fun. Mike and I stayed "on the air" for about an hour. We also ended up E-mailing Gary and Steve afterwards. They really seem like fun guys. I think the next show will be Wednesday night. Definitely worth checking out at least once...
