All things must pass...
Ack...been feeling mucho groggy this weekend. I hope I don't have the bug that's going around the office at the moment. There seems to be a bit of the flu traveling around work. It's lent to the quietness recently.
I also was feeling a bit bummed out by George Harrison's recent passing. While I can't say he was a part of my life as much as people who actually grew up when The Beatles first hit it big, The Beatles were still an influence on me musically. They were the first pop group I really got into and the first group whose songs I learned how to play on the piano. "Here Comes the Sun" especially holds memories because the high school I went to had it as the unofficial theme song for the school mascot: The Sun. And while I had owned "All Things Must Pass" and his second solo greatest hits CD for a while, it was only recently that I started getting into George's solo stuff. Friday, I popped in his "Dark Horse" greatest hits collection for the drive to work. Just great music all around. And from the retrospectives and interviews I've been seeing over the weekend, it seemed like he was a genuinely sweet and kind guy. He will definitely be missed and hopefully some of today's pop acts would take a cue from him and learn what it really means to be a talented pop star.
Gosh...so much else to catch the journal up on..."Survivor" turned out to be a clips episode. So my predictions carry over to next week. Saturday, Ted and I helped out Nathan with his storyboard project. We had to basically illustrate the different panels of a storyboard he was putting together for a TV script. His friend Michael was also onhand to help out. Fun stuff, but it reminded me how much I HATE acting in a role. I just can't do it. And I do love performing (just ask my beleaguered friends how I bellyache about wanting to perform again), I only like performing if it's music or a stand-up/hosting thing. I'm just awful at taking on a "role."
After the shoot, we went to Chili's, which I actually squealed at delight over because I had not eaten at a Chili's in L.A. before. Yes, that's how sad things have gotten...I actually got excited about eating at a restaurant. But mmm.mmm.mmm....gotta love those Chicken Crip\sers! Saturday was capped off by going to Aaron's holiday party. Got to catch up with Murad (my former roommate) and the game show bunch including David, Tony, Brad, Chris, Jade, and Steve.
Sunday, I got to talk a while with Chad, another guy I met online. He really seems like a great guy from the talks we've had. And if all goes according to plan, I should be seeing him in person when he drops by to join the gang for "Survivor."
Today, I also did a bit of holiday shopping. Mostly got stuff for the family today. Went to Best Buy, Virgin Megastore, and Costco. All of which weren't super crowded. The goal is to finish up everything by this week...* fingers crossed *
